Event: Milwaukee Food Council Mixer
Date: Thursday October 11, 2018
Time: 5pm – 8pm
Where: Los Mariachis Mexican Restaurant – 4305 W Layton Avenue, Greenfield, WI 53220
Participants to Bring: Business Cards to exchange with others & to enter for Door Prizes
Food: Free Appetizers first hour; Menu & Cash Bar for Participants. 20% of the proceeds will go to MFC efforts to positively impact healthy, affordable food access to our local communities
Why: Attend this event if you are a Milwaukee area resident who cares about the food system. Have you been unable to attend the Thursday morning MFC general meetings? Do you sometimes feel like you’re all alone and nobody else cares about the local food system the way you do? Come meet all the people who feel the same way. This is your chance to network and mingle with like-minded people.
Make a new friend, Learn something new, Form a business connection, Develop a new local food business, Brainstorm new ideas, or just come have fun hanging out with a bunch of local foodies!
Agenda for the Evening
5pm – 5:30pm: Arrive and check in
5:30pm – 6pm: Introduction of the Board Members to include opening remarks from President of MFC
6pm – 6:30pm: Speed Networking Activity
6:30pm – 8pm: Door Prize Announcement & Participants on their own – mingling and enjoying the evening with food, drinks and good networking conversations.

Youth Food Conference
Inspired by support from the McGinnity Family Foundation and our own MFC youth-serving membership organizations, the Milwaukee Food Council is excited to host a Youth Food Conference on Saturday, October 20th at Havenwoods State Forest and Nature Center.
The goals of the event include:
*Highlight young food leaders who are transforming the local food system
*Connect interested youth to food leadership opportunities in the city
*Continue to identify key strategic areas for systems change in our local food chain.
The main agenda for the day includes:
9:00am-9:45am Breakfast and Networking
9:45am-10:15am MFC welcome and Keynote speaker
10:15-12:30pm Six Youth Presentations (15 min each)***
12:30-1:00pm Youth and Organization panel with Q&A
1:00-2:00pm Clean Up
***We are seeking applications from young people (16-25) who are actively engaged in good food activities – from composting and gardening to starting local restaurants or food businesses. Presenters will be awarded a $50 stipend for their presentation. Applications are due September 28th and can be found here–> Youth Food Conference Application Sept 2018
