Youth Food Conference
Inspired by support from the McGinnity Family Foundation and our own MFC youth-serving membership organizations, the Milwaukee Food Council is excited to host a Youth Food Conference on Saturday, October 20th at Havenwoods State Forest and Nature Center.
The goals of the event include:
*Highlight young food leaders who are transforming the local food system
*Connect interested youth to food leadership opportunities in the city
*Continue to identify key strategic areas for systems change in our local food chain.
The main agenda for the day includes:
9:00am-9:45am Breakfast and Networking
9:45am-10:15am MFC welcome and Keynote speaker
10:15-12:30pm Six Youth Presentations (15 min each)***
12:30-1:00pm Youth and Organization panel with Q&A
1:00-2:00pm Clean Up
***We are seeking applications from young people (16-25) who are actively engaged in good food activities – from composting and gardening to starting local restaurants or food businesses. Presenters will be awarded a $50 stipend for their presentation. Applications are due September 28th and can be found here.
