Webinar from Food & the WI Idea
March 15 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm CDT
Please join us on Thursday, March 15 at 3:30pm for our third event of Food & the Wisconsin Idea’s 2018 series! See link for more details.
Kathy Cramer, UW-Madison professor of political science and author of The Politics of Resentment, will discuss the “rural consciousness” that she encountered when she visited 27 Wisconsin communities from 2007-12, and simply listened to people. They expressed perceptions of receiving an unfair share of decision-making power and public resources, and of having their distinct culture and lifestyles disrespected by urban elites. We have invited community leaders to join us remotely from Milwaukee to share their perceptions with Kathy. All Zoom participants will have the option to “unmute” and join us face-to-face as we explore whether we share any values in Wisconsin related to food that might help us bridge the urban-rural (and -suburban!) divide.
To join us in person at the University Club in Madison, please register. We hope you can remain with us afterward for the Social Hour sponsored by Tribe 9 Foods.
To join us via Zoom video conferencing, please register with location above, and you will receive a unique link to join. When you join, your mic and webcam will be turned off by default, but we do hope some of you will turn them on and “join the conversation!”
